Arkham Horror: The card game is a cooperative living card game in which one to four investigators work together to uncover Arcan secrets and conspiracies. Meanwhile, they have to face personal demons from their past. Each player takes the role of an investigator and creates a deck to match the capabilities of this investigator. A series of interconnected scenarios interwoven into a narrative campaign where a greater secret is to be revealed.

In each of these scenarios, the investigators explore various threatening places, search for clues to advance the story, and try to escape or defeat the myth’s devious powers. As they progress in the campaign, the investigators get experience and new insights that allow the characters to evolve in a variety of different directions by adding powerful and new higher level cards to their deck. But be careful: the more you come into contact with the Arcan world, the greater the risk of becoming insanity. The investigators must protect themselves from the grip of madness while simultaneously trying to survive and aerate the secret.

Arkham Horror: The card game is played over several rounds. Each round consists of the four phases of mythophase, investigation phase, opponent phase and entertainment phase. In the mythological phase, the arcanic forces that the investigators face are trying to drive their malicious plans. In the investigation phase, each investigator has three actions that he can use for moving, fighting, investigation or drawing. In the opponent phase, the opponents move and attack the investigators. In the entertainment phase, heroes and villains take a position and prepare for the next round. The scenario is finished once players have reached a resolution of the scenario.

The highlight of Living Card Games is that you can adjust the game by regularly appearing expansions and make it even more exciting. The extensions introduce new investigators, additional scenarios or campaigns and new player cards that enrich and add extra depth to the investigation decks. Although the gaming experience is greatest when you play through a complete campaign, you can also play each campaign scenario individually. Unlike collectible card games, all LCG extensions contain the same playing material. They do not consist of random cards.

This revised reissue of Arkham Horror: the card game is fully compatible with all previously released extensions. The new box contains enough play material to start adventure directly with up to four investigators. In addition, some cards from previous extensions are included to give new investigators more options in character development. Some cards have received a new artwork, but nothing has changed on the game mechanics and the values of the cards. The sorting of the cards has also been revised to make it easier to get started. For example, investigators can now be found with the cards that are intended for you. You can simply mix the deck with the new edition and start playing. Various small improvements that increase gaming comfort are revised and now numbered resource markers or a marker for the leading investigator.
