The PENTAX papilio II is a very special binocular. This binocular has been designed to give nature-lovers a close-up capability. The working distance for macro-range enthusiasts starts at just 50 cm. We might have christened it a “magnifying glass” even though it is something different but no worries, it also ranges to infinity. Thanks to the BaK4 prisms and multi-layer coating of the lenses, the papilio delivers a clear and high-contrast image. Furthermore, the inner focusing ensures a long working life and the aspherical lens elements in the eyepiece area achieve outstanding edge sharpness. Nothing that “creeps and flies” escapes the papilio “magnifying glass” – butterflies, beetles, spiders, flowers, pollinating bees or any other sort of fascinating insect. The rubber armoring protects the binocular against impacts and at the same time ensures a secure grip. Features the PENTAX-developed convergent lens optical system engineering mechanism, which automatically slides the left and right objective lenses toward the center when the focus is fixed at a short distance. As a result, the right and left image fields are correctly aligned to facilitate close-range viewing. It is used for bird watching, traveling, sports and theater 50 cm close-up viewing for museums bright and clear.
