Alpin 5 XL DT / Fuel efficiency: E, wet grip: B, ext. rolling noise: 69dB, rolling noise class: A - £100.06

The Michelin Alpin 5 225/45 R17 94 H XL DT is a premium winter touring tyre that replaces the Alpin A4. The tyre is geared towards compacts, mid-range and large saloons. When a study by VUFO concluded that 57% of road accidents occur on dry road surfaces, Michelin took this as an opportunity to improve the wet and dry performance of its winter tyres. The Michelin Alpin 5 225/45 R17 94 H XL DT's tread pattern features deeper grooves and a 17% higher void ratio than the Alpin A4, which improves its snow and wet performance. Michelin's “Stabiligrip Technology”, which helps the tyre retain its overall rigidity, uses three-dimensional intersecting sipes to improve the rigidity of the tread blocks. With a 16% increase in the number of sipes in the Michelin Alpin 5 225/45 R17 94 H XL DT, the tyre's stability is increased. The rubber in the Michelin Alpin 5 225/45 R17 94 H XL DT uses Michelin's fourth generation silica-based rubber compound, HelioCompound 4G. This contains a sunflower oil base that allows the tyre to retain its softness, even at low temperatures.

Latitude Alpin / Fuel efficiency: E, wet grip: C, ext. rolling noise: 72dB, rolling noise class: B - £100.18

Michelin Latitude Alpin is ideally designed for multi-purpose and compact 4x4 vehicles. The 4x4 tyre for winter provides good traction on snowy and icy roads. The shorter breaking distance in wet conditions is the specialty of the Latitude Alpin. During wet braking tests, the tyre responded well to the breaks and stopped 4m shorter than its principle European competitors. Michelin's Latitude Alpin shows 8% more traction in the snow than its challengers. The tyre with less wear and tear lasts 50% more miles than any other tyre of its kind. Superb cornering stability, extremely good traction, technically designed tread pattern, noise comfort and resistance to aquaplaning - all these make Latitude Alpin the perfect choice for challenging winter drives.

Energy Saver (*) / Fuel efficiency: B, wet grip: A, ext. rolling noise: 70dB, rolling noise class: B - £100.40

The Michelin Energy Saver 205/60 R16 92 W (*) is the best in Michelin's green tyre league. Fuel efficient and safe, the Michelin Energy Saver 205/60 R16 92 W (*) is suitable for all passenger cars, coupes, saloons and mid-range models. The Michelin Energy Saver is green throughout. The new silica-based rubber compound which replaces carbon black in the tyre's tread makes the tyre the ultimate in fuel efficiency. In keeping with its name 'Energy Saver', this Michelin tyre gives lower consumption and can save up to 80 litres of fuel. The Durable Security Compound (DSC) improves safety in wet conditions with better braking due to the tyre's extra rigidity. The braking distance on wet roads is reduced by 3 metres. Added to this is the tyre's durability, which lasts 6000 miles longer than others in its category, making this Michelin one of the longest-lasting tyres in the industry. This long life is achieved by the tyre's tread components, perfect control of the consistency of the rubber mixture and the interaction between molecules. The new mixing process enhances the performance of the silica in the tread rubber, thereby, extending tread life even after a long life on the road. The Michelin Energy Saver 205/60 R16 92 W (*) is smart, long-lasting and green. It is indeed the best tyre for those who are fuel-conscious and focused on durability. The main features of the Michelin Energy Saver:Green tyre which saves 80 litres of fuelDurable Security Compound (DSC) improves wet brakingLasts 6000 miles longer than other tyres Longer lifespan is made possible with tight control of the tread rubber mixture Suitable for all types of passenger car.

With more than one hundred awards in the Formula 1 races and two victories of the constructers' world championship, Michelin is beyond any doubt one of the most praised and prized manufacturers in the world. One may understand better why Michelin tires are so respected all over the world, if we just sum up the world speed record, with an average of 400km/hour, during the F1 tests, successfully passed with BAR Honda in 2006. The French tires have won the consumers' trust in more than 170 countries, because Michelin's signature comes along with safety, longevity, security and boldness, in all respect of the environment. Dedicated to innovation, the Michelin engineers don't leave anything unchecked when they build a tire. Their products are known for their superb grip in the corners, under diificult aquaplaning situations, but also for their resistance to the highest temperatures. For more than a century, the French constructer, headquartered in Clermont Ferrand has created over 3500 tire models and has been mounted on the most famous car brands.
