The updated removable StoneGuard uses less material and is lighter weight and the “burrito” style wrap-around tongue provides a locked-in feel. Lace up and take off with the Superior 5. Sandwich Mesh Upper The upper of the Altra Superior 5 has been constructed with a sandwiched mesh vamp for ultra-breathable comfort. Micro perforations allow heat and vapour to escape, whilst simultaneously encouraging fresh air to enter and circulate for a pleasant cooling sensation. This keeps feet feeling fresh and comfortable so you can stay focused. Durable quarter panel overlays reinforce the shoe, making them abrasion resistant and protecting the foot from sharp rocks and debris you might encounter out on the trail. The “burrito” style tongue works in tandem with the traditional lacing system to lock in the foot securely, giving you improved stability and control, whilst a Gaitertrap hook and loop tab allows for strapless gaiter attachment to prevent debris building up under the shoe. The FootShape toe box ensures plenty of room for natural toe flex, giving you greater stability and comfort.
